Hendrick's Birthday

For his birthday Hendrick was given the choice of a party
with friends or going to the movies with Jon. He chose lunch
and a movie with his dad! We must be doing something
right if he'd rather hang with dad than friends! So we just had a family party in celebration of his birth. It's kind of a tradition that Jon and I have started with our family, that we make a customized cake for the birthday boy/girl. We usually let them choose what ever cake they want, then Jon and I do our best to figure out a way to make it. As you can see Hendrick was into skulls! We had a lot of fun making this cake, yes we made it by hand. It's cheaper to trim and cut with knifes than to buy pans. We used a red velvet cake mix, it doesn't taste as good as chocolate but it sure was cool when we cut it and the skull looked like it was full of blood!!!
